Greetings everyone! Fall is here! While we were in Wisconsin last weekend, we noticed some of the trees on the hills were starting to show some yellows. The tree outside my office window even has some yellow.
The British Car Festival at Moraine Valley Community College started wet and cool. We had a pretty respectable MG turnout, but this was the smallest Festival I have attended. The BCU show has traditionally been the largest British car show in the Midwest. It is too bad as this may have been the last. The organizers have been doing this for twenty years and need new volunteers for the show to continue. If you enjoy seeing this large assortment of British cars and can donate some time and effort, contact Dave Bralich or Dean Swanson. I would hate to see this great event end.
The second annual Wine, Cheese, and Beer and Shakespeare tour was a big success. We had 44 people Saturday, 38 for Sunday. Nineteen of us attended Julius Caesar on Saturday. We had two new Minis, a TR6, eighteen MG’s and a Honda. Reinout and Henneke joined us for lunch in their 1931 M. Most of the group sat up late and enjoyed a first rate parking lot party. We toured Spurgeon Vineyards Sunday morning. We enjoyed sampling the wines and purchased wine and cheese to take home. The tour officially ended at Mineral Point Saloon for lunch on their patio. Many of us continued to the New Glarus Brewery. I am sure they loved to see us as we drove away with our cars loaded with New Glarus brews. We had another great drive through southern Wisconsin.
The Return to Abingdon weekend is coming up in October. Don’t forget to make your reservations for the hotel and send in your registrations. The registration and more details are in this issue.
October is going to be a busy month. We start out with our annual return to Abingdon Weekend on the 6th through the 8th. Seth Jones has his Fall Color Tour planned long the north shore of Lake Michigan. Finally, Doug Clark has prepared our annual Halloween Rally for this year. Please make every effort to attend these events and show your support for the organizers.
We are in need of a new driving events coordinator. After several years, Wade needs to reallocate his time. He will continue to support the club in his other roles. If you are interested, or if you need more details about the duties involved, please call or email me. Wade has agreed to help the new coordinator get started. If you enjoy the club driving events please consider helping out.
It is also time to start thinking about officers and staff for next year. All offices are one year terms, so all are up for reelection. The October meeting marks the opening of officer nominations. Please consider donating some time to keep the Chicagoland MG Club a vital and well organized group.
Finally, the October meeting is our club’s birthday. There will be the traditional champagne toast along with birthday cake and ice cream. See you there.

See you on the road! - John - flobearsmgcomcast.net
