MGB Stripping Party
November 2, 2003 - Streamwood, IL

Pulling engine out of MGB More than a dozen people converged on Tom Sotomayor’s garage to tear apart a 1973 MGB. By day’s end the body was still sitting on four wheels, but not much else left. There was a nice center console, a real cherry keeper of a rear bumper, and a serviceable fuel tank. Some parts found new homes the same day, while others were kept for inventory. Tom demonstrated how to sacrifice the cheap wiper spindle nuts to save the expensive wheel boxes. There was a good demonstration of use of an engine balancer. The engine front plate was changed to allow installation of the later type engine mounts for the engine to be used in a 1976 car. The body was cut up for scrap the following weekend.
